It’s three days before Christmas. This is good news for me because I woke up thinking it was Friday, which made only 2 days until Christmas, but it turns out to to be Thursday. Bonus day!!!
(Then as I scrolled through my Facebook memories I saw I made a similar mistake last year. At least I’m consistent.
Christmas seems to sneak up on me. It truly feels like Thanksgiving was just last week. (I was on a cruise ship. It was fabulous.)

Lots of coffee. I have a huge crush on the good people over at Ninja. I’ve been a big fan of their blenders for years and then they recently sent me the Ninja Coffee Bar System and my love grew. One word: AMAZING.
Okay, three more words: built-in milk frother.
You can make anything from a super concentrated four ounce serving to a full pot. The Ninja Coffee Bar has a special setting for making coffee to pour over ice and comes with a tumbler (complete with lid and straw) to brew it into. Choose your desired strength and serving size and amazing coffee will be yours in minutes.
Froth your milk while you wait.
Jam for everyone.
My friend Lindsay at Sunflower Farms and Shop makes amazing jams. Ruby Red Grapefruit Marmalade. Pineapple Jalapeno. Fresh Peach. Triple Berry. Plum. Pear Fig. The list goes on and on.
And she ships them anywhere in the US!
It’s my go to gift for people like teachers, my physical therapist and my aunt who always says not to get her anything this year.
And between that and my Ninja Coffee bar, every morning has felt like a vacation! I sipped coffee and munched on an English muffin with jam and a sausage patty this morning while making out some last minute cards Hallmark Signature sent me. They are so pretty – bells, glitter, sequins, oh my!
Don’t have Amazon Prime? Well, click here to get it for free: Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial Amazon Prime means whatever you need or desire can be at your door within two days without you having to leave the house to hunt it down.
Last minute gift ideas like a Pie Face game for your nephew, Elsa slippers for your daughter, that Michael Kors purse your mom has been pining for or a hot sauce sampler for your brother are no problem!
My daughter was bummed our house wasn’t looking very festive and my husband is exhausted from long holiday work hours. So we got cheater lights.
Yup, we bought a Star Shower!
It’s a cool contraption that projects lights onto our house like magic.
We also stuck some solar powered lights on our bushes. Easy peasy.
We don’t have a lot of preparing to do for Christmas day because we keep it so low key and simple. It’s just my husband, daughter and I. We open presents, go to the movies and eat tacos. Then we watch the South Park “Mr. Hanky, the Christmas Poo” episode.
I’ll run out to the grocery store for frozen cinnamon rolls for breakfast and the taco fixings early Christmas eve morning. No guests to prepare for or big feast to fret about!
Lowering already low standards.
I’m in what seems like a never ending process of decluttering and deorganizing, which means the house is messier than ever right now. The kid asked if she could put the Christmas tree up in her room. I said, “SURE!!! Great idea!!!” because it meant I didn’t have to make a space for it in the living room.
Also, I’m pretty sure my child has lived off of apples and oranges all this week. Whatevs. She’ll get protein in the form of ground beef tacos on Christmas.
Bribing my kid (and her friends).
I’m self employed. If I stop working just because my kid is out of school and the holidays are upon us, there will be no money to feed Santa’s reindeer. So I’ve enlisted my kid to help with both work and household chores.
Sometimes I pay cold hard cash. Other times the reward is letting her off the hook for a messy bedroom, buying her some makeup brushes or driving her and pals to the mall.
If her friends are over, they get jobs, too. The more the merrier!
Gift bags and gift boxes instead of wrapping paper.
I buy them in bulk from Amazon. (Yup, you still have time with Amazon Prime! Again… Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial)
And if I am low on tissue paper, I just staple the bags shut.
I’m a LuLaRoe consultant and it’s been extra convenient this month. Throw on some red leggings and a chunky sweater and I look festive while being totally comfortable. Or there’s my go to -the Carly dress. It feels like I’m wearing my favorite nightshirt, yet I look like I put effort into getting dressed.
Spoiler alert: the ladies in my family are all getting LuLaRoe. I mean, seriously though. What better gift than super soft clothing you feel good wearing?
LuLaRoe has helped me bump up the giving this year! Because of my income from LuLaRoe and help from my amazing customers I’ve been able to help five different schools and organizations across the US and Mexico receive thousands of cash dollars.
My daughter and one of her friends helped me put together dozens of LuLaRoe kid’s outfits to donate to children in foster care.
We made and delivered hygiene and comfort bags for a homeless shelter the same day.
My daughter used several months of allowance to put together makeup bags for teen girls who might get overlooked this holiday season.
Focusing on doing good is the best way to avoid the holiday craziness.
Even though, I love these holiday sanity savers, I still get sidetracked. For example, I started this post early in the morning and now it’s late at night.
